Be honest with me for a second — when's the last time you sat down with God and didn't have one eye on the clock?
I get it. Between the kids, the job, the to-do list that multiplies overnight like laundry, "quiet time" can start to feel like something other women have. Not you, not today, not this season.
But here's what I've had to remind myself lately: God never asked for a perfect hour. He asked for a willing minute.
"Be still, and know that I am God." — Psalm 46:10
Notice it doesn't say "be still for sixty uninterrupted minutes with candles lit and worship music playing." It just says be still. Sometimes that stillness looks like praying over coffee before anyone else wakes up. Sometimes it's one verse read at a stoplight. Sometimes it's a whispered "help me, Lord" folded into the middle of chaos.
What I've learned is that the enemy doesn't need to convince you God doesn't matter — he just needs to convince you that you don't have time. That's the whole strategy. Busyness becomes the barrier, and slowly your relationship with God gets pushed to "when things calm down." Friend, things rarely calm down on their own. We have to make the space.
A Small Way to Start
This is exactly why I built Grace Unfolding — a 394-page, hyperlinked Bible-in-a-year journal designed for real life, not for a life you don't have. It's built for the woman reading on her phone in the carpool line, the woman with five minutes between meetings, the woman who wants to draw closer to God but needs a gentle guide instead of one more thing to feel behind on.
Right now you can grab it for a little less with the code GRACE20 at checkout — my way of making that first small step even easier.
So today, don't wait for the perfect quiet morning. Take the five minutes you actually have. He'll meet you there — He always does.
Come say hi over on Instagram @mommajscozycottage — I'd love to hear which verse is meeting you where you are today.
With so much love,
Momma J 🤍
